Set your kids up for a lifetime of healthy activity
Cycling is a fantastic activity for children, offering fun, exercise, and a sense of adventure and independence. It’s a great way for kids to engage with the community and experience the neighbourhood – they’ll see all kinds of things you might miss in a car. Instill a love for bikes and active travel at an early age, and children will ride on into adulthood - with all the benefits that brings for health, wellbeing and the environment.
Bicycle NSW provides a wealth of resources to help children get started with cycling safely and confidently. From kid's activities like scavenger hunts to essential tips on teaching kids to ride, Bicycle NSW ensures that young riders have all the support they need. There is also guidance on bike safety, choosing the right bike, and planning family-friendly rides. Explore our archive of resources to make cycling a fun and safe experience for your children!
In NSW children can now keep riding on the footpath till they turn 16 and supervising adults can ride with them and get more active too! Check out more bike laws here.
