Greater Sydney Bike Trail
For an exciting bicycle track Sydney can deliver, think about exploring the Greater Sydney Bike Trail. Numerous suburbs still do have faded 'door zone' bike lanes, but metropolitan councils are increasingly supporting cycling by installing quality off-road shared paths and protected bike lanes. Bicycle NSW actively supports these projects through ongoing advocacy with decision-makers and comprehensive submissions. The Greater Sydney Bike Trail
Aside from a 22km stretch of road riding in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, the Greater Sydney Bike Trail mainly includes shared paths, linked by brief 2-3 km areas of low-traffic backstreets, making it about 85% off-road.
The Greater Sydney Bike Trail starts at Mrs Macquarie's Chair, located opposite the Opera House and, runs through Centennial Park, up to La Perouse, around Botany Bay, along the Menai Cycleways, by Chipping Norton Lakes, following the Glenfield Rail Trail, the M7 Cycleway, Old Windsor Road, Parramatta River Cycleway, Shrimptons Creek, through Lane Cove National Park, and along Epping Road. It offers many unique views along the way.
Centennial Parklands Circuit
Centennial Parklands is a bicycle user’s ultimate bicycle track Sydney site, featuring a 4 km long track called the Grand Drive. Shared by vehicles, bicycle riders, joggers, and even horse riders, it highlights a dedicated cycle lane ensuring a safe ride. The parklands offer a range of other roads for cycling, including a Learners' Cycleway for children just beginning their riding journey.
The Bay Run
The Bay Run is also a well known 7 km harbourside bicycle track Sydney find leading around Iron Cove, moving through several inner-west suburbs. With its gorgeous scenery, it's a ‘must ride’ among locals. The route is lined with cafes, ideal for a post-ride cuppa. This path is extremely popular with walkers, runners, dog walkers and the less mobile so always be considerate of other users and try to avoid the busier times.
Olympic Park Circuit Ride
Sydney Olympic Park offers a variety of bicycle tracks. The landmarks and Brickpit Ring walkway are a standout, sharing views of a protected habitat for endangered species.
Narrabeen Lagoon Circuit
For a more serene ride, the Narrabeen Lagoon Circuit on the Northern Beaches is an 8.5 km loop that provides diverse ecosystems and native wildlife. The track is flat with sealed tracks, gravel, and boardwalks, making it well-suited for a family ride. This circuit has many other path users so always take care and be mindful of other users.
Cooks River Cycleway
The Cooks River Cycleway is about 12 km and a lovely scenic route from Botany Bay to Homebush Bay. It's a quiet bicycle track Sydney venue, with plenty of spots to take a break while enjoying the natural surroundings.
Prospect Reservoir Loop
For those wanting to stretch their legs over a longer ride, the Prospect Reservoir Loop is a 30 km bicycle track Sydney treasure that takes you through Western Sydney's historic water infrastructure. The track is well-sealed and offers great riding terrain.
M7 Cycleway
