Mahatma Gandhi is an important person to Indian communities across the world for leading a nonviolent movement for Indian independence. This year, the Western Sydney Cycling Network (WSCN) helped their local Indian community celebrate Gandhi's 150th Birthday and World Bicycle Day through a bike ride.

The Bicycle NSW affiliated Bicycle User Group, WSCN helped support riders to really make the day special. WSCN provided 30 bicycles and helmets to their community along with 22 riders and 8 ride leaders to help lead the group around Parramatta Park in a comfortable and safe environment.

“It was an unusual and fun event to help build cycling and strengthen ties with the local community at the same time. It put many people on bikes that hadn't ridden for years,” commented Joe Farrugia, WSCN Club President.

Bicycle User Groups across NSW interact with their local communities, lead rides and advocate for bike riders on a regular basis. We encourage you to get in touch with your local BUG.
