Bicycle NSW is pleased to share that the National Road Safety Partnership Program collaborative project Construction Logistics and Community Safety – Australia (CLOCS-A) will receive key funding through the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, supported by the Federal Government.
We contribute to this work because it offers the best chance to prevent fatal crashes, and life altering injuries, for riders from crashes involving heavy vehicles. Our members have supported the deep work required to campaign in this area, on what can be quite technical issues.
Whilst Bicycle NSW has focussed on how the standards, specifications and safety modifications can make heavy vehicles safer. This contributes to the relevant working group. The Amy Gillett Foundation has developed education to help make drivers safer.
“Improving national standards offers a great opportunity to make the roads safer for bike riding,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.
“Doing this work well should have a positive impact for generations, and I’m grateful for the member support that has enabled us to do it,” said Bastien.
As we are able to share more about progress we will update you.
