Bicycle NSW is the peak membership organisation for bike riding in NSW and is the only bicycle advocacy group in NSW with a team on the ground. For 47 years we have been promoting and supporting cycling in all its forms as a sustainable and healthy form of transport, recreation and tourism.

We engage with community, industry and all levels of government. Recent advocacy campaigns focused on the Sydney Harbour Bridge ramp, the Sutherland to Cronulla Active Transport Link (SCATL), allowing unboxed bikes on regional trains, the Rail Trails Bill, e-bike subsidies, minimum passing distance rules and all the policy and cultural changes that will create Better Streets for NSW.
Alongside the main campaigns, the small Bicycle NSW team works hard every day to advocate for the best possible outcomes from major infrastructure projects such as Rozelle Interchange, Sydney Gateway, Warringah Freeway Upgrade, Parramatta Light Rail, Sydney Metro, M7 widening and M6 Stage 1.

Did you know that we are only funded by public donations and membership fees?
It is actually better that we do not receive government grants as we can be non-partisan and say what we really think in our regular submissions to local and state plans and strategies.

The Bicycle NSW Environmental Trust was established in 2003 to promote bicycle riding. The Trust helps Bicycle NSW continue its valuable work of getting more people riding bikes through its program of events, advocacy, community building and membership.
