Today The Hon Bruce Notley-Smith MP and the Hon Andrew Constance MP, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure announced funding of $5.3 million for the Bondi Junction cycleway.

This follows the successful passage through Woollahra Council on Monday the 15th of October, of the planned shared path from Rose Bay to Double Bay.

Bicycle NSW recognises that each of these successes follows years of local advocacy by bicycle user group BIKEast, engagement with, and support from, state and federal MP's, local councils and the community.

Bruce Notley-Smith's support for our footpath riding campaign was instrumental in raising the age from 12 to 16 years of age, and he joined us at Spring Cycle to celebrate.

"We are pleased to see politicians from each of the parties, and independent MP's, respond to the needs of the community for safe cycling infrastructure that reduces road congestion and improves health." said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.

Bicycle NSW will continue 'pedalling hard' to make riding better for everyone in NSW and in the lead up to the state election we encourage everyone to write, tweet, call or message their local member to let them know how important safe cycling infrastructure is to you.
