Western Sydney's brand new cycleway opened on Saturday, 14th March 2026
Known as the 'Emu Track', the M12 shared user path stretches for 16km from the M7 Cycleway at Cecil Hills to The Northern Road at Luddenham via the new Western Sydney International airport.
It includes 6 rest areas, good lighting, artworks and a scenic section of the Western Sydney Parklands which has long been difficult to access.
By combining this path with the M7, Bringelly Road and Northern Road shared paths, Sydney’s bike riders have some great new options for long loop rides.
Garry from CycleSydney was one of the first to ride it and we look forward to seeing more of our Members' photos and videos!
How to get there
Which train stations are nearby?
Unfortunately, there are no stations close to the cycleway. Leppington is probably the closest station but not well connected.
CycleSydney recommends connecting to the Emu Track via the M7 Cycleway from either:
- Edmondson Park station
- Rooty Hill station (noting that this includes a steep hill)
Where to park?
If driving, a good place to leave the car is Wylde MTB park which has free parking.
There is more new cycling infrastructure in and around the M12!
