A 17 year old boy died yesterday evening in Blacktown after crashing into a metal barrier.

Emergency services were called to attend a playing field in De Castella Drive after reports that a male riding a bike had hit a metal barrier.  The boy was suffering serious head injuries.

In spite of the best efforts of NSW Ambulance Paramedics, he died at the scene.

Blacktown Police Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the incident. At this stage there do not appear to be suspicious circumstances.

“On behalf of Bicycle NSW and our members, we offer our condolences to the family and friends of this rider,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.
