Bicycle NSW wishes to convey its condolences to the family and friends of a 52 year old woman who died riding her bike along Spring Creek Road in Yarrawong near Mudgee on Saturday morning.

The woman was riding westward with another rider when a 39 year old man driving a utility collided with her, knocking her to the ground. The woman died at the scene, and her male companion was not injured.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and the Bathurst Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.  Police have called for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000

“We are saddened by this Mudgee fatality and wish to share our condolences with the family and friends of the rider,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.

“There have been 10 fatal crashes involving people riding bikes this year.  We need greater investment by government in safe, separated infrastructure and driver education so everyone can arrive home safely,” said Bastien.
