For some parts of NSW, lockdown rules will lift on Friday the 10th of September.

Sunrise in regional NSW

Restrictions are easing for parts of NSW

Due to the currently low number of COVID-19 cases, some Local Government Areas (LGAs) in rural and regional NSW will come out of lockdown tomorrow, but many others will not.  A full list and a map can be found here.

However, this does not mean in the areas released from lockdown, that there will be no controls in place. Outdoor gatherings and indoor gyms and recreation facilities will allow 20 people again.  However, the Deputy Premier has indicated there will not be a return to community sport yet.

Yes, this sounds confusing.  At present we are working from a media release, but once the regulations are amended we will be able to provide greater clarity and update our table that summarises the rules. Just as the return to community sport was part of a staged approach in 2020, we expect a similar process to occur this time.

A plan for everyone else

The rest of NSW has been provided with a ‘Roadmap to freedom for the fully vaccinated’ that will be enacted on the Monday after 70% of people in NSW over the age of 16 have received two doses of a COVID vaccine.

“We are grateful to our riders across NSW for all your efforts to keep yourself and the community COVID-safe,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.

“It is great to see parts of NSW open up, and a plan for similar freedoms for all of us,” said Bastien.

Due to the rapid changes that have occurred in rates of infection and control measures, Bicycle NSW encourages riders to stay up to date with the health measures.

Bicycle NSW is not in the position to provide individual information. If you would like further clarification any COVID-19 restrictions, please visit the NSW Health website, the updated health orders or contact Service NSW on 13 77 88.
