In exciting news, Sydney’s iconic bike riding event, Spring Cycle welcomes Ironman Group to the team.

The Ironman Group have acquired the presenting partnership of Spring Cycle from Nine’s (previously Fairfax’s) Events and Entertainment division. Included in their new portfolio, alongside Spring Cycle, is City2Surf, Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, Melbourne Corporate Triathlon and Carman’s Women’s Fun Run.

Bringing a wealth of experience, Ironman has been hosting events for thousands of people since 1978. They present over 260 events across 53 countries including dedicated bike riding events in Australia like the Port to Port Mtb (NSW) and Velothon Sunshine Coast (QLD).

Although being a global company, Ironman ensures their positive impact locally too. Over $50 million has been provided to 8,300 local non for profit initiatives since 2003. $540,000 was donated for humanitarian relief in 2018 and so far in 2019, 800 bikes have been donated to children.

“We are thrilled for the future of Spring Cycle having a world class event organiser, like Ironman, on board,” commented Bicycle NSW CEO, Alistair Ferguson, “Each year thousands of people hop on their bikes for Spring Cycle, just for the joy of riding. Now, with the added powerhouse of Ironman, we are hoping to change the riding habits of more Australians to enjoy life on a bike.”

For over 35 years, Bicycle NSW has worked with local and state government to close  Sydney's inner city streets and give priority to bikes throughout Spring Cycle. As a mass participation event, Spring Cycle encourages all different types of riders to see how great Sydney really is on a bike. Join us on Sunday, October 13 for Spring Cycle 2019.
