Bicycle NSW has made the heartbreaking decision to cancel Spring Cycle 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The whole team has worked hard to explore all options for Spring Cycle this year. However, with the safety of our loyal participants, hardworking volunteers and dedicated staff in mind, we have decided to cancel the event.

Spring Cycle was scheduled for Sunday, 11 October this year and we delayed our announcement in the hope of finding an alternative. With the evolving COVID-19 pandemic measures it is increasingly hard to organise an event and keep everyone safe.

Spring Cycle Riders

Current Government Restrictions

Current regulations limit gatherings for community sports events to 500 people, a fraction of ordinary event attendance. Spring Cycle also attracts riders from across NSW and around Australia. The new NSW Health requirement to avoid interregional mixing would also severely limit the number of riders able to attend the event, and also put their safety at risk.

It is a devastating decision to cancel Spring Cycle, however the Government restrictions together with wellbeing concerns for everyone involved, have left us with no alternative.

Spring Cycle enables thousands of bike riders to cycle across the Sydney Harbour Bridge car free and really experience the joys of bike riding. It’s the one day of the year that bikes have priority on Sydney roads and the whole team is heartbroken that these riders will miss the opportunity this year.
