In early 2021 the Sydney Harbour Bridge southern cycleway will be diverted from Upper Fort Street due construction at Fort Street Public School.
Diversion Information
Over the next two years Fort Street Public School will be upgraded, and in order to protect cyclists a diversion has been put in place during these works. The cycleway will be temporarily moved to Kent Street, Argyle Street and Watson Road.
Information Sessions
A virtual information session will be held from 11-18 December 2020 and can be accessed online. Bicycle NSW has worked with the City of Sydney Council and project managers to ensure this route provides an equivalent level of safety and amenity for riders, in line with the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.
"We appreciate that this is a very popular cycling route, and we are relived that this project has designed a detour that offers similar protections, amenity, legibility and convenience to the previous route," said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.
Bicycle NSW encourages riders to attend the information sessions to learn more and share their feedback.
