1. Comprehensive insurance coverage
One of the standout benefits of Bicycle NSW Membership is our global comprehensive insurance package, including
- Personal injury: Covers medical expenses, loss of income, and other costs associated with injuries while cycling. Be financially protected in case of an incident.
- Public liability: Provides $20M coverage if you are held liable for causing injury to someone else or damaging their property while riding. Protect yourself against potential legal claims.
Discounted theft and damage insurance: To ensure your bicycle is fully protected, you'll need to purchase separate insurance. Bicycle NSW Members receive discounted protection against theft and accidental damage via our partner insurer. Visit our Oz Bike Insurance page to sign up.
2. Legal advice and support
If you are involved in a dispute, Bicycle NSW Membership gives you access to legal advice and support via Advantage Legal.
- Legal advice: For cycling-related injury issues, including accidents, insurance claims, and disputes.
- Legal support: For personal injury matters, including an initial consultation at no charge with our partner law firm Advantage Legal. As a Member, you’re also entitled to a discount on Advantage Legal's professional fees of up to 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, the same personal accident and public liability (third party) insurance is included in all of our Memberships: Household, Individual, Concession.
Concession Memberships (over 65 years old) have the same coverage as a Household, Individual.

No! Our members live across Australia and are covered by the same global comprehensive insurance.
If you are living overseas, you must spend at least 6 months living in Australia within your Membership year to be covered.
Your Membership starts on the first day of the following month and you get the period between now and then included for free.
If you sign up on 15 March 2025, your membership will start from 1 April 2025 until 31 March 2026, and you will also be covered between 15-31 March 2025 included for free.
Sorry, at the moment our memberships are annually (12 months) at the moment to reduce admin overhead and keep costs low.
Bicycle NSW is the peak body for people cycling in NSW.
Most states have a different bicycle organisation, representing the needs of people cycling to that state government (which regulates transport and cycling legislation) - eg. Bicycle Queensland (QLD), Bicycle Network (VIC) and Pedal Power (ACT)
