Nigel Withers, Bay Bug member has produced a video that discusses how crash data is collected. This is a good video if you ever wondered how road safety data is collected and processed.

Unfortunately for cyclists, there are some massive holes in the process.  This can lead to councils making bad decisions based on missing information.  It can de-prioritise cycling safety projects, and you can’t assume NSW Police will get involved.

The problem is that riders, and families of potential riders, think these injuries and safety issues are serious.  This discourages riding no matter what the data says, and better systems are needed to identify hazards so they can be addressed.
