Bicycle NSW, Western Sydney Cycling Network and CAMWEST are teaming together for the inaugural WSYD Gear Up Girl Social Ride on March 4th 2023 and we would love for you to join us.

Our social ride is focused on encouraging and empowering women of all ages and abilities to get involved in cycling. Whether you are a seasoned rider or just starting out, this ride is the perfect opportunity to develop your skills, connect with other women, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Western Sydney.

There are two start locations for this event - Rooty Hill Railway Station and Adams Park, Canley Vale.  Riders from both start locations ride 15-16km and converge at Prospect Reservoir for a light lunch.

Both rides are slow-paced, and apart from a few road crossings, almost exclusively on shared-path.  Riders from the Rooty Hill start will encounter a few more hills than those starting from Canley Vale.

From the reservoir, riders have the option of making their own way home (either riding or arranging for someone to drive to Prospect Reservoir to collect them), or joining the lead ride back to Guildford Railway Station.  Note that the ride to Guildford Station is an additional 10km and will be done at a slow pace.  If going back to the Rooty Hill start from Guildford, two trains can be taken with a change at Granville.

Riders from both start locations ride 15-16km and converge at Prospect Reservoir for a light lunch.

The meeting point for the Rooty Hill start is in North Parade, Rooty Hill, beside the Rooty Hill station lift at 10am.  If driving to the Rooty Hill start site, there is both ground-level parking and parking in a multi-storey carpark available.  Entrances to both carparks run off opposite sides of Station Street.

The Canley Vale start site is a short ride from Canley Vale station.

"Time and again we see women hesitate and doubt themselves, but sometimes all it takes is a friendly gesture, and a healthy tribe with a similar story to instill confidence, to show you that YOU CAN and get started".  Quote and Photo: The Sydney Cycling Sisters- 'The importance of a Cycling Sisterhood', Australian Muslim Times
