COVID-19 controls have changed again in response to increased numbers of cases.
On Saturday in response to increasing case numbers, restrictions were increased to control the impact of COVID-19. In the Greater Sydney Area including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Shellharbour:
- Construction must cease other than certain urgent works
- Retail has closed or moved to click and collect other than specifically exempted businesses
This will mean projects to deliver bike infrastructure will need to pause. If works have already commenced in your area, watch out for unattended worksites or obstacles on your ride.
Further restrictions have been introduced for the rest of NSW, and following Monday’s 98 cases, the increased restrictions announced on Saturday were maintained. Our explanation of the reasons you can ride your bike remain, but the reasons to ride to work have changed. Further explanation of who is an authorised worker can be found here.
“Once again we are heartened that riders are making contact with us in an effort to clear up confusion over how to apply these measures,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.
“We’re grateful to everyone for their efforts, and pleased we can all still ride, even if the routes may have changed,” said Bastien.
