Bicycle NSW has been working with MP's on plans to deliver better outcomes for bike riders in NSW

Bike fallen over on road

We know more people are commuting by bike and riding for exercise.

This has made it difficult to ride safely and practice the physical distancing required to stop the spread of COVID-19.  We have been 'pedaling hard' behind the scenes looking for solutions.

The Hon Jo Haylen MP, Labor's Shadow Active Transport Minister and the Hon. Cate Faehrmann MP Active Transport Portfolio Holder for the NSW Greens have both written to the Hon Andrew Constance MP asking  Transport for NSW to reallocate road space to bike riding.

They share our concern for people trying to to commute and exercise safely, and they want more space for health and essential workers commuting, people riding locally for exercise and travel.

“It's great to see more people across NSW riding bikes and asking for the support they need to stick to COVID-19 requirements,” said Bicycle NSW General Manager of Public Affairs, Bastien Wallace.

“Across the state people face different issues, and Bicycle NSW welcomes calls for state plans that support people to stay active and healthy,” said Bastien.

We are pleased to see this shared vision, and appreciate the proactive leadership to support active transport and healthy communities in NSW.
