Over the long weekend, it was as if a mass evacuation order had been given for Sydney. Excitingly, many of these people fleeing the confines of Sydney were heading out to see what NSW had to offer for bike riders.
Our #RideTheBush campaign encouraged riders to support regional NSW through drought, then bushfires. Now, we are glad to see that support continue on as COVID-19 restrictions ease.
With the Tumbarumba to Rosewood rail trail opening during lockdown, the local towns were booming over the weekend which was fantastic to see.
Trail Towns TV Series
Excitingly, the Tumbarumba to Rosewood rail trail also won the NSW section Trail Towns competition. Planning to launch in 2021, the Trail Towns TV series is aimed at exploring areas across Australia and NZ that are great towns for bike riding.
As Australia's first cycle tourism dedicated program, it will give holiday goers everything they need to know to plan their next active holiday including where to ride, eat, stay and play.
Currently in the development stage, Trail Towns is looking for regions to feature. We’ve provided a few but we know you have some gems up your sleeve. If you have a town or region across NSW that is the BEST go-to holiday destination for bike riding, please contact hello@trailtowns.tv.
“Throughout COVID-19 we have seen more and more people take up two wheels for exercise, transport and fun. Trail Towns is now planning to provide inspiration for holiday destinations to explore and what Australia and NZ have to offer bike riders,” commented Bicycle NSW Communications Manager, Kim Lavender.
Bicycle NSW encourages local BUGs, cycling groups, shops and councils to jump on board and support Trail Towns to help encourage more people to enjoy life on a bike.
