As the year came to a close, many of us were busy trying to get everything wrapped up to start the new year fresh. Yet, Bike Leichhardt made sure to also enjoy a festive bike ride to celebrate a fantastic 2019.

Christmas with Bike Leichhardt involved an slow-paced 27km ride, starting at Epping Station and then towards Martin Place.

“We cruised through the suburbs of Epping, Marsfield then to North Ryde for coffee at a favourite haunt of mine, the coffee is great and so are the goodies,” explained Mike MacDonald, Member of Bike Leichhardt

From there, the BUG rode down to the Epping cycle path into Naremburn and then through North Sydney onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Next up, was a photo in Martin Place with the Christmas Tree before heading back to Leichhardt for love festive lunch.

Bike Leichhardt attracts riders of all ages with events held both on weekends and during the week. They run numerous overnight tours including overseas and outback tours. If you have a sense of adventure Bike Leichhardt would be a fantastic BUG to join.

“To best describe us, you won’t be seeing a long line of cyclists riding at full pelt in a peloton, we are the riders that mostly ride the bike paths, the marked roads and follow known cycle routes,” commented Mike.

Bike Leichhardt are strong believers in the BUG network. It is a great way for cyclists to ride safely with others, find out about many places to ride and have some fun at the same time.

Christmas with Bike Leichhardt is just one of the many rides our Affiliated BUGs do across a year. If you are looking to find a group of like minded riders, we recommend contacting your local Bicycle User Group.
